Two Conspired to Commit a Theft in Ione

Two conspired to commit a theft in Ione recently. According to Ione Police Chief Michael Johnson, last Thursday evening the Police Department responded to the Ione Hotel Bar on a reported theft of a woman's purse. The victim stated she had stepped out of the bar monentarily and returned to find her purse missing from the top of her table. The victim and a witness provided a desription of a femail suspect and a man with her. An investigation identified the wanted woman as Ashley Chapman. Chapman was located in an apartment on South Church Street in Ione. Officers recovered the victim's purse and most of the stolen property and arrested Chapman. 25 year old Andrew heisler of Hayward was identified as conspiring with Chapman to commit the crime. He was also found in violation of probation and a restraining order. A warrant for Heisler's arrest is in progress as he wasn't located at the scene. Chapman was booked into the Amador County Jail on conspiracy, theft, possession of stolen property and an outstanding arrest warrant from Alameda County.
