Talented Young Musicians...start thinking about entering a competion

Talented young local musicians may want to start thinking about entering a competition to showcase their abilities. The Mother Lode Friends of Music announced that the deadline for entries into the 6th Annual Young Musicians Competition is Friday, February 24th.

The competition is open to music students of high school age or younger learning classical music on all major string and wind instruments, piano, or voice. Only residents of Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and El Dorado Counties may participate. Entrants may compete in senior or junior solo divisions, or an ensemble division. Auditions will be Sunday, March 25th with a public performance of winners to be held on Sunday, May 6th in Sutter Creek.

Contestants are judged by a panel of professional musicians and music teachers from outside the region and each contestant will receive a written evaluation of his or her performance.
