Local organization offers help to those with mental illness

A local organization reaches out to those struggling with mental illness. The Amador Chapter of the National Alliance on Metal Illness offers “Connection”, a recovery support group for adults living with depression, anxiety and other types of mental illness, led by trained peer facilitators. The group offers a safe place to discuss personal challenges with recovery, share coping strategies, and offer one another support and understanding. The group meets weekly for 90 minutes. It’s free of charge and follows a flexible structure. All groups are confidential and meet weekly at Sutter Amador Hospital. For more information, contact Gail Nellis at 772-3413.
