Ione Train Relocation Committee confident in fundraising effort

Historic Ione Train Depot Relocation Committee members are busy and confident as they prepare for a special workshop on the issue next Tuesday.  A $45,000 loan from the Jackson Rancheria makes the move possible, and the Committee expressed confidence they’ll be able to raise the money to repay it. The effort has already collected $2,200.  Moving the Depot will cost $35,000, plus another $9,000 for lead abatement and placing it on piers.  A committee member said the move of the building should be simple, but costs could quadruple if it’s not placed on a permanent foundation and has to be lifted a second time.  City Manager Edwin Pattison said engineering and other questions should be answered before the September 25th Depot site plan workshop.
