About 200 People Were Attending the Jackson Octoberfest Today at the Former Prospect Motors Building in Martell, with Festivities to Keep Going until 7 P.m. Tonight (Saturday, Sept. 22). Organizer Wolfgang Hocke of Apex Productions Said it Was Early but He Still Expected a Larger Crowd as the Late Afternoon Temperature Drops. He Said it Is Not Just a Beer Festival, with Authentic German Beer, Unpasteurized Hofbrau Munchen. Hocke Said it Is Also a Family Festival with Contests, Dancing, Yodeling and Authentic Octoberfest and Bavarian Music. He Said 35 Live Performers Were Playing Music and Dancing Through the Octoberfest, Including Two Different Bands and Dozens of Dancers. They Did a Beer Keg Rolling Contest, with the Men’s Division Won by Kam Merzlak. Music Includes the Gruber Family and the Alpentanzer Schuhplattler, Playing Traditional Bavarian and Austrian Dance Tunes. A Bratwurst throwing contest Was Still under Way as of 4:30 P.m.
