CHP Reports DUI Arrests Over Weekend

CHP offices in both Amador and Calaveras Counties reported DUI arrests over the weekend.  On Saturday afternoon, Bradley Gaisford of Murphys was driving his jeep at a high rate of speed westbound on Avery Sheep Ranch Road while reportedly intoxicated.  He failed to follow a curve in the roadway and his vehicle went off the pavement, struck a dirt embankment and overturned, totaling his car.  Gaisford sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mark Twain St. Joseph hospital for treatment.  He was subsequently arrested.  Then, late Sunday night, just after 11 pm, Joseph Piro of Pioneer was riding his motorcycle northbound on Volcano Pioneer Road, north of Highway 88 while reportedly under the influence of alcohol.  He failed to stay on the roadway while rounding a curve and overturned.  The impact broke his right leg and he was taken to SutterAmadorHospital for treatment. Piro was then arrested for DUI.
