Storage Structure Burned in Friday Night Fire Behind Jackson Creek Plaza

A storage structure behind the Jackson Creek Plaza on Highway 49 was burned in a fire Friday night, and the cause is still under investigation.  Jackson Fire Department Engineer Louie Podesta said the call came in about 10:30 pm.  His was the first engine there, one minute behind Chief Mark Morton, who saw that the fire was just limited to the outside, stand-alone structure, with no extension into the commercial structure, behind CVS Market and Top Nails.  Cal-Fire’s Sutter Hill engine responded as back-up.  Jackson Police were also on the scene.  Half of the structure was cinderblock and the other half was pipes and chain link fencing, and the roof was 2x6 boards.  Contents were metal fixtures and some cardboard and firefighters had the fire knocked down within 10 or 15 minutes.
