More Headaches Reported with State Fire Fee Errors

More headaches have emerged regarding the controversial State Fire Fee assessment.  According to Amador County Assessor Jim Rooney, erroneous late notices may be sent by the state to people who have already paid their State Responsibility Area fire fees. Rooney shared that a Willow Creek area resident reportedly received a late notice and penalty fee despite having a copy of the SRA Fire Fee payment check cashed by the state. The resident’s late notice with penalties totaled over $127.00.   Rooney expressed concern that thousands of people could get similar incorrect notices in AmadorCounty. As president-elect of the California Assessors’ Association, he plans to speak with the State Board of Equalization about the issue.
