Search For Missing Plane Continues

The search for the missing aircraft resumed yesterday. However, due to the weather, aircraft were unable to get a low level visual search of the area. Civil Air Patrol planes and CHP aircraft attempted to get a visual of the search area but the weather hampered their efforts.  Search and rescue ground crews continued the search but high winds, overcast conditions and fresh snow on the ground made searching difficult. Improved weather conditions are expected today. The Civil Air Patrol from both the California and Nevada Wings will continue visual and electronic searches for any activated distress beacons today.  As reported yesterday, the missing Cessna 182 went down in rugged terrain southwest of Lake Tahoe while returning from Idaho.  Officials believe the small plane may have been headed for Westover Field in Amador County.
