Sutter Creek Looking For Part-Time Chief

Sutter Creek Looking For Part-Time Chief

The Sutter Creek City Council discussed future use of the historic Grammar School at their meeting last night.  The main topic of discussion was the potential use of the historic school, located above the current Sutter Creek Primary school as the host of a new city museum.  Mayor Tim Murphy revealed his plan to disband the current Historic Grammar School Commission, which has overseen the restoration of the building over the last year, and the creation of a new museum committee, which would take responsibility for the planning, funding and implementation of the museum with cooperation between the city, and the Sutter Creek Community Benefit Foundation, which has been the principal organizer of both the construction of the new Miner's Bend park as well as restoration efforts at the old Grammar School.   The Council also conducted interviews for a new Police Chief in closed session before the regular meeting.  Currently, Chief duties are performed in the city by a Sheriff Captain who splits his time between the two departments.  Sutter Creek is now looking to hire a part-time Police Chief to handle management duties with the City’s police department. No further details were released, other than the interviews had taken place.
