Jackson Rancheria Purchases Amador Ledger Dispatch

Jackson Rancheria CEO Rich Hoffman told KVGC today that the Rancheria has purchased the assets of the Amador Ledger Dispatch and will combine the historic paper with The ACORN newspaper. About a month ago, long-time Ledger-Dispatch publisher Jack Mitchell and the newspaper parted ways. The Rancheria decided to open their own newspaper and hired Mitchell as publisher. As soon as that happened, the vast majority of the Ledger-Dispatch staff left and started to work for The Acorn. Ledger-Dispatch owner Tami Tran, faced with a small staff and some competition, began talking with Hoffman and last Friday they completed the deal. All of the Ledger Dispatch staff were terminated by Tran. Rancheria officials have provided them information on how to stay up on job postings at the Rancheria. Hoffman says the goal of the whole deal has always been to serve the community with quality news, Hoffman says they are in the process of looking for offices in Jackson that are easily accessible to the public and hope to have that completed soon.
