Pioneer Man Working Toward Deal In Murder Case

A Pioneer man may be working toward a deal in the murder case against him. Gary McMahan, charged with the July 2013 murder of Norman Gresham III near West Point, was in Calaveras County Superior Court for arraignment and entered guilty pleas last week. His attorney, David Singer, also said that he and McMahan are discussing a possible resolution to the case with prosecutors. McMahan is accused of shooting Gresham during a standoff where Gresham allegedly pointed a rifle at McMahan when he thought McMahan was trying to steal his girlfriend.
