Calaveras County May Face Lawsuit Over Cannabis Raid

Calaveras County May Face Lawsuit Over Cannabis Raid

Calaveras County might be facing a lawsuit over the raid that shut down a cannabis processing operation and resulted in 37 arrests recently. The raid by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office happened at a warehouse near the old airport and led to the seizure of more than 2 1/2 tons of marijuana. County Officials say the permit for the facility was in process. Attorneys for the owner, Calaveras Cannabis Inc, say the actions violate the spirit of the county’s ordinance, which allows both growing and processing. They also claim the cannabis that was taken during the raid was destroyed without due process. Additionally, they say they were legally occupying the property. They are considering filing a lawsuit based on those issues.
