Woodpeckers Topple Power Pole?

Woodpeckers Topple Power Pole?

The main entrance to the Jackson Rancheria Casino and Resort was closed for much of the day yesterday as PG&E crews work to replace a utility pole that snapped in half at around 7 in the morning.   A PG&E foreman at the scene said woodpecker holes combined with the cold temperature may have contributed to the pole failing.  No one was injured in the incident and New York Ranch Road was closed into the evening from the intersection at Ridge Road.  Guest traveling to the Casino were able to access the facility via Dalton Road from Highway 88, or from the Jackson side of New York Ranch Road.  The incident affected about 400 customers at one time, but crews were able to isolate the outage to just the nearby area as they worked to replace the damaged pole.
