CHP Officers To Escort Building Inspectors At Marijuana Farms

Calaveras County Building Department inspectors might have CHP escorts while inspecting marijuana farms. The department is planning to enter into a contract with the CHP in San Andreas and will discuss the plan with the Board of Supervisors on December 13th. Their plan is to pay the CHP to have officers escort inspectors on compliance inspections for registered growing operations. The ideas is to do this until the inspectors have developed a rapport with the growers, so they can feel safe going into these inspections. They’ll pay the CHP $50,000 out of a fund made up of money generated by cannabis growing fees and the contract will last until mid-year next year.
