An Old Name Has Come Back To Amador County

An old name has come back in Amador County. The Acorn Newspaper is now the Ledger Dispatch Newspaper. Several months ago, long-time Ledger Dispatch Publisher Jack Mitchell and a large number of the papers staff abruptly left. They teamed up with the Jackson Rancheria to start a new local newspaper called the Acorn. Shortly after that, the owners of the Ledger Dispatch approached the Rancheria offering to sell the newspaper and its assets. That happened and it appeared the Ledger Dispatch, which has been in existence in one form or another since 1955, would be no more. Then yesterday, the paper came out with the old name. Readers can expect local news coverage, community items, sports and more. You can call 223-8761 to subscribe.
