Amador County Man Fighting Isis Alongside Kurdish Forces Dies In Syria

An Amador County Man has died while fighting alongside Kurdish Forces fighting Isis in Syria. According to our news partners at the Ledger Dispatch, 27 year old Michael Israel traveled to Syria to lend an independent hand in the regions ongoing conflict between rival religious and ethnic groups. Israel, who was not an active member of any branch of the U.S. Military services, was killed November 29th while fighting as a member of the Peoples Defense Units (YPG), an army of the Northern Syria Federation. As of this report, the Ledger Dispatch was not able to independently confirm details surrounding Israel’s death, but social media posts from a wide circle of friends mourn his passing. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
