Ione Girl Injuried In Auto Accident

A 17-year-old Ione girl suffered minor injuries after sliding off the Butte Mountain road and shearing off a utility pole on Monday.  The California Highway Patrol said the girl, whose name was not released because of her age, was driving a 2005 Pontiac westbound on Butte Mountain Road east of Clinton Road at about 40 miles per hour just after 3 p.m. when the incident occurred.  The girl told officers she was going too fast and was unable to maintain control of the car. The impact sheared the pole off at its base and both it and the car came to rest partially blocking the westbound lane of Butte Mountain Road.  The girl was taken to Sutter Amador Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
