More Information on Burglary Arrest

The Jackson Police Department has released more information on the arrest of a man believed to be responsible for a rash of burglaries throughout Amador County. 54 year old Lonnie Charles Downing of Jackson was arrested at 610 Court Street around 6pm Saturday. While working on a domestic violence investigation there, officers discovered during a search of the home that Downing was in possession of numerous items that were stolen in recent burglaries in Sutter Creek, Jackson and the unincorporated county. Jackson and Sutter Creek Police and Amador Sheriff’s investigators are working to identify the recovered property and get it back to its rightful owners. So far they have linked items to eight Jackson burglaries, two Sutter Creek burglaries and one Amador County case. Downing, who has been in trouble before for burglary, was arrested for first degree robbery, battery on a spouse and battery on another person in addition to charges connected to the burglaries. He also had a large amount of marijuana for sale and was charged with that. The investigation continues and Jackson PD urges anyone with information or who recently suffered a burglary to call them at 223-1771.
