Mysterious Shooting In The Arnold Area Thursday

A Richmond man is in critical condition after a mysterious shooting in the Arnold area Thursday. According to Calaveras County Sheriff’s Sergeant Anthony Eberhardt, deputies were sent Thursday afternoon to the Ebbett’s Pass Fire Station for a report of a gunshot victim. Deputies learned that the victim, 33 year old Robert Allen Hilton, Jr., and the witness 48 year old Lamir Anthony Amma, both from Richmond, were driving from Oakland to the Sacramento area. Amma says he was asleep in the car when Hilton pulled over and got out of the car, where he was shot in the upper torso. Amma said he was awakened by the gunshots and saw a grey sedan leaving the scene. He pulled Hilton into the car and ended up at the Ebbett’s Pass Fire Department. Hilton, who was uncooperative with investigators, was taken to an area hospital and is in stable but critical condition. Investigators are still working to determine more information and need the public’s help. They described the area as a 10 minute drive from Arnold where the “trees are not as tall”. The victims were in a 2011 Dodge Challenger and they describe the suspect car as a 1990’s model grey car. Call 754-6030 if you have information that might help.
