AMADOR WINS CIF-NORCAL BOWL GAME

The “Magic Carpet” ride continued Friday night for the Amador High Thundering Herd with a 21-14 victory over the Mendota High School Aztecs, to win the CIF-NorCal Division 6-AA Bowl game.   Before a near capacity crowd of Amador fans at Frank Meyer field in San Andreas, the Buffaloes held the lead all night, holding off a two touchdown challenge by the Aztecs within the last minutes of the game. Amador Head Coach Bill Baker had high praise for his players and coaching staff, for keeping true to their game plan and playing their band of football. Looking ahead to this week Baker says it’ll be business as usual for the Thundering Herd.  With Friday night’s win, Amador improves to 15-1 and faces the Rancho Christian Eagles from Temecula, next Saturday at a location in Southern California to be announced later this weekend. That game will be the first state bowl game for both teams.
