Calaveras County Will Continue To Inspect Marijuana Farms

Calaveras County will continue to inspect marijuana farms for the time being, and the CHP will help. The Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to approve a contract for up to $50,000 to hire CHP officers to accompany code enforcement officers when the make initial unannounced visits to farms with pending registration applications. The money will come from registration fees. The decision was made because Calaveras Sheriff’s Office is understaffed and deputies workload is full already. During the meeting, the Board was updated on the progress in registering nearly 1,000 cultivation sites. Nearly half have yet to be reviewed, mainly due to short staffing, which the County is trying to resolve along with the shortage of deputies.
