Young Calaveras Boy Avoids Possible Abduction

Young Calaveras Boy Avoids Possible Abduction

A young Calaveras County boy used his smarts and appears to have avoided a possible abduction recently. The incident happened last Saturday around 3pm. The Sheriff’s office received a report of a 7 year old boy who was contacted by a suspicious person near the intersection of Sugar Bush Lane and Azalea Court in Forest Meadows. The boy said he was walking home from the bus stop when a white BMW-type sedan pulled up alongside him. The driver told the boy he knew his father and said to get inside the car. The boy asked the man for his father’s name and the man changed the subject and offered him candy. The boy refused and the car left the area. The car has a Forest Meadows decal on the windshield and a gate control device. The driver was described as a white male in the 20-40 year old range with blond hair and a pale complexion. The sheriff’s office urges parents to discuss safety measures concerning these types of incidents with their children. Children should be encouraged to use the buddy system when walking to and from school bus stops.  If you have any information about this vehicle and the driver please call the sheriff’s office at 754-6500.
