Man Shot in Arnold was Robbing House

The Bay Area man who showed up at the Ebbett’s Pass Fire Department with a gunshot wound was shot while allegedly trying to rob a house. The Calaveras Sheriff’s Office reported on December 8th that Richmond resident Robert Hilton, Jr. and Lamir Amma showed up and reported that Hilton had been shot in the Arnold area when he got out of his car along Highway 4. Since then, evidence in the car led detectives to a home in Arnold, where the resident admitted the shooting occurred inside his home. The resident said the men tried to rob him at gun point, but he fought back and the gun discharged, hitting Hilton. The two men fled when he got the gun away from them. It appears they were trying to steal marijuana from the resident. Detectives picked Amma up at a home in Richmond on multiple felonies including robbery. Hilton is still in the hospital and detectives have turned his case over to the DA for possible prosecution.
