Jackson Votes To Make A Change At The Top

The Jackson City Council has voted to not renew the employment contract of longtime Jackson City Manager Mike Daly.  The Council held a specially scheduled meeting Thursday night.  Personnel matters are discussed in closed session, so details of the Council's discussion are not know, but two actions were reported out of the closed session.  First, that the Council had voted 4-1 to not renew the employment contract of City Manager Mike Daly effective March 31st of 2017.  Daly is currently on a medical leave of absence, which started on Monday, December 19th and is expected to remain on leave until the end of March.  Mayor Connie Gonsalves was the dissenting vote on Daly's contract.  The Council also voted unanimously to appoint Jackson City Planner Susan Peters as acting City Manager while they search for an Interim Manager.  Daly has been Jackson City Manager for 18 years, making him the longest-serving government executive in Amador County.
