Problems At Substation Cause Outages In Gold Country

Problems at a transmission substation caused power outages throughout the Gold Country this morning. We received reports of a brief power outage between 8:30 and 8:45 this morning at locations covering nearly all of Amador and Calaveras Counties. The vast majority of customers were back on within a few minutes, but about 3,000 customers in the San Andreas area and 2,200 customers in the Sutter Creek area were without power for the morning and early afternoon. The outages appear to be a problem at a transmission substation, which is the main power distribution point for the area.
