Possible Scam Targeting Seniors
The Amador Senior Center is warning of another possible scam targeting seniors. They have received reports from local seniors who received phone calls from someone claiming to be from Bank of America, asking for clarification of their profile. They provided one phone number to call to update their profile and another one to call if you felt like their call was in error. After some research, they were unable to confirm either of the numbers and think it’s a scam. How do you avoid being scammed? First of all, be very careful about giving out personal information to anyone over the phone or online unless it’s a call you initiated. Also, if you have any questions or suspicions, you should call the main number for BofA or any other institution, instead of any numbers provided to you. That way you can be sure you’ve reached the right people.
