Winter Trails Holding Up For Calaveras Ranger District

Winter trails in some parts of the Stanislaus National Forest have become pretty rough and dangerous, but Calaveras Ranger District seems to be holding up. The Summit Ranger District has some serious issues with avalanches and otherwise treacherous conditions. That means cross-country skiers and snowshoers are facing washed out trails and huge ruts. Calaveras Ranger District trails, however, are groomed and in good shape. Remember that conditions can change rapidly and hazardous conditions may not yet have been reported to Forest officials. Contact your local Ranger District Office for current information on road and weather conditions before traveling on the Forest. Calaveras Ranger District can be reached at 795-1381.
