Local Man Found Guilty Of Child Molestation

Local Man Found Guilty Of Child Molestation

16 years for an Amador County man who was found guilty of molesting a teenage girl. 32 year old Alex Aroz was sentenced to the maximum possible sentence of 16 years in prison by Judge Steven Hermanson. Aroz was found guilty by a jury last year in a case involving two molestation incidents in 2015 with his girlfriend’s 13 year old daughter. After the first molestation, the girl told her mother, but the mother left the girl alone with Aroz again 4 days later. He molested her again. The mother was pulled over by the CHP rushing to the house and when she explained why she was rushing home the CHP contacted the Amador Sheriff’s Office, who arrested Aroz. The girl initially told investigators about both incidents in detail but the next day they received a note written by the mother and signed by the daughter recanting the allegations. The mother then denied investigators any access to the daughter. Despite that challenge, investigators and the DA’s office built a case involving these incidents plus Aroz’s prior convictions on sex assault charges. DA Todd Riebe praised the Amador SO and the CHP for their quick response and investigation, Deputy District Attorney Gabrielle Stidger and Victim Advocate Amy Drake.
