Tree Removal Crews Make Progress In Calaveras

Tree removal crews took advantage of some sunny weather this week to make more progress, but they have a way to go. The work began a month ago, but stormy weather has limited the number of active work days to 11. During those days, 1,030 trees were taken down. 1030 hazard trees were taken down. Many of the crew members hired by Phillips and Jordan and Tetra Tech are from Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties. Currently 9 cutting crews and 2 hauling crews are working on the project with additional crews scheduled. There are monitors at all work sites. Once trees are taken down by cutting crews logs and slash will be picked up by hauling crews and transported to Wallace for processing. Work is expected to be completed on Mt Ranch Road within two weeks, weather permitting. A schedule of where crews will be working is posted at buttefire.co.calaveras.ca.us
