Silva Taken Into Custody

Silva Taken Into Custody

Former Stockton mayor, Anthony Silva, was taken into custody over the weekend. Silva lost his re-election bid last year following accusations of inappropriate behavior with minors at a youth camp he runs in Amador County.   According to court documents, the latest allegations have no relation to that case; instead Silva faces felony charges of money laundering, grand theft and misuse of public funds, all in connection to a non-profit club that serves Stockton area youth.  Investigators with the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office seized laptops, computers and financial documents Thursday from Silva's home, and from the Stockton Kids Club.  Silva was out of the country on vacation and returned this weekend to face the new round of charges. Silva has been fighting the Amador charges since last summer when he was arrested at a youth camp on Silver Lake.  Those allegations include misdemeanor charges involving underage drinking, a teenage strip poker game and making an illegal recording of the alleged activities.  A teleconference in that case involving Silva's attorneys, Amador County prosecutor and the judge is scheduled for Tuesday morning.  Silva is not required to participate.
