Explosion And Fire Level Kirkwood Home

Explosion And Fire Level Kirkwood Home

For the second time in one week and on the same street, a vacation home at Kirkwood exploded and went up in flames Friday afternoon.  Firefighters received the call just before 2 p.m. when a neighbor called 911 to report a loud explosion and a raging fire in a nearby vacant home on Dangberg drive.  Officials are investigating to find out what’s to blame.  Hours after the explosion and fire, Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Captain Rick Ansel told reporters the cause of the fire is still under investigation.  Ansel said there was nobody in the building and that the last time an explosion like this happened was back in the 1980s and in that case it started with a propane leak. Ansel says firefighters and other safety officials plan to be on Dangberg for several more days trying to figure out what happened.
