Ione Moves Forward With The Wildflower Development

The City of Ione is moving forward with a section of the Wildflower development and approved a contract to revamp the city's manhole covers. Meeting last night, the Ione City Council approved the Final Map for Unit 5 of the Wildflower Subdivision. This is the last administrative step by the city before new homes are built and sold. The Wildflower development was first approved by the city in 2007, but only now is final approval and construction moving forward. The Subdivision, located on the eastern edge of town off of Foothill drive and Highway 104, will be hundreds of homes when fully built out, but the current approval allows just 14 homes to move forward. The Council also approved a contract to refurbish the city's manhole covers. The city will spend $75,000 on the project, with the main goal being to prevent storm water from seeping through the manhole covers into the city sewer treatment system and thus reducing the amount of water that the system needs to treat. Due to the contract bids coming in higher than expected, the City will reduce the total number of manhole covers being refurbished from 18 to 16.
