Tree Contractor Killed In Falling Tree Accident In Calaveras

A tree contractor was killed in a tree falling accident in Calaveras County while working on Butte Fire tree removal. 21 year old Chris Hiser of Sonora died while working for Leslie Heavy Hauling in the area of Whiskey Slide Road north of West Murray Creek Road in Mountain Ranch.  Phillips and Jordan is the main contractor for the project, which is being managed by the County of Calaveras and FEMA. According to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, Hiser was removing an oak tree when a limb fell onto his boom truck bucket. He suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Phillips & Jordan are arranging for grief counselors at the site. Calaveras County Adminstrator Timothy Lutz and Phillips & Jordan expressed their deep sadness over the accident.
