Local Man Jailed For Evading Law Enforcement On Stolen Motorcycle

An Amador County man who has been in trouble with the law before was jailed again early this morning for trying to evade law enforcement. According to Amador County Undersheriff Jim Wegner, a deputy tried to stop a motorcycle for running a stop sign and speeding. The driver, later identified as 36 year old Jacob Kent Marhefka, sped off and drove recklessly into oncoming traffic in an effort to get away. The deputy ended the pursuit for safety reasons, but deputies kept looking for Marhefka and found him on some backroads. A second pursuit ensued toward and through Sutter Creek. Deputies caught Marhefka on Allen Ranch Road and determined the motorcycle was stolen. He was arrested for vehicle theft and evading. If the name sounds familiar, Marhefka turned himself in last October after allegedly leading deputies on another pursuit that was cut off due to heavy rains.
