A Stormy Winter Causes Delays In Opening Forest Roads

This last stormy winter is going to mean delays in opening some forest roads. The Stanislaus National Forest says several roads in the forest won’t be opening on the normal date of April 15th. That’s because there is so much snow that workers haven’t been able to inspect many of the roads and the ones they have inspected have quite a bit of storm damage. That means they could remain closed for several months. The roads include Cottonwood Road, Forest Road 1N04, between the intersections with Thompson Meadow (FR 2N13) and Reed Creek (FR 3N01S) in the Mi-Wok/Groveland Ranger District and Beardsley Road, Forest Road 4N29, known as Beardsley Day Use Area Road in the Summit Ranger District. Visitors are encouraged to contact local Ranger District office for current information on roads and conditions before traveling on the Forest.
