Gas Prices Increase

Gas prices continued their steady increase this week. Nationally the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased nine cents.  Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg reports that rising crude oil prices, and last week’s U.S. missile strike in Syria, contributed to the rise. The national average is $2.43, and Lundberg predicts prices will climb a few more cents before starting to level off.  Prices in California are much higher than the national level, as refiners in the state last month started the transition to the so called, “Summer Blend”.  The average price in California is now around $2.99.  Our KVGC survey shows regular unleaded is selling between 2.59 to 3.17 in Amador County and between 2.79 to 3.17 in Calaveras County.  California’s 12-cent gas tax increase, approved by lawmakers last week, is set to take effect in November.
