Christine Merten's Cause Of Death Determined

Amador County Coroner’s detectives have determined the cause of death for Christine Merten, who wandered away from her Pioneer home two weeks ago. Undersheriff Jim Wegner says they have determined that Merten died from exposure and that her death was an accident. They have not determined exactly when she died, but Merten’s body was found several days after she wandered away from her home in the Tiger Creek area. Deputies, firefighters and search and rescue teams from all over the state came to help find her. She was ultimately located about a half mile from her home by a search dog.
