Lake Amador Drowning

Lake Amador Drowning

A drowning was reported yesterday at Lake Amador. Under Sheriff Wegner reports around 4:30 Monday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a patron at the Lake Amador Swim Pond that there was a possible drowning of a teenage male and that other swimmers were currently looking for him.  Patrol deputies, along with a boating deputy responded to the pond, however they were unable to immediately locate the person.  With the use of the sonar equipment on the boat, deputies were able to pinpoint a potential location of the drowning victim.  Members of the Amador County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team were able to locate and recovered a 20 year old male from Davis who was pronounced dead at the scene.  The Sheriff’s Office is still conducting an investigation into the drowning and the victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
