Lake Camanche Accident Claims One

It was a deadly Memorial Day on the waters of Amador County.   According to Amador Under Sheriff Jim Wegner, just after 1 Monday afternoon, an Amador County Sheriff’s Office Deputy who was on boat patrol on Lake Camanche, noticed two jet skis on the lake with a male sitting on one waving.  Upon pulling up to the vessels he found an eighteen year old female lying nearby unresponsive in the water. The deputy pulled the woman into his patrol boat and started to administer life-saving measures while also assisting the male into the patrol boat.  The deputy drove to the North Shore marina at Lake Camanche where he continued to administer CPR to the teenager until medical personnel arrived to assist.   The woman was transported to Sutter Amador Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.   The woman was later identified as Emily Uyeno of Elk Grove.  During the Amador County Sheriff’s Office investigation, deputies determined Uyeno and her male associate collided with each other while they were operating jet skis causing Uyeno to be thrown from her jet ski into the water.  The Amador County Sheriff’s Office is still conducting a complete investigation into the cause of the boat collision.  At this time alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the boating accident.
