ACSO Aides Injured Hiker

Amador Sheriff’s Deputies aided in the rescue yesterday afternoon a 53-year-old Lake Tahoe resident.  According to the ACSO, the hiker broke her ankle on a granite rock while in the Potholes area east of Highway 88.  Deputies were on patrol in the area, and hiked into the canyon to locate the injured woman.  The woman was found on a trail about one and a half miles from Highway 88 and deputies called for helicopter assistance from the California Highway Patrol.   The helicopter was able to safely land on some rocks in the area, and the woman was carried to the landing zone by the deputies and Kirkwood Fire personnel.  The injured woman was flown to a Tahoe area hospital for treatment.
