Calaveras Fire Info

Calaveras County fire crews rolled out to three wildland fire yesterday. The first was reported around noon on Marks road, near THE Greenhorn Creek golf course.  The fire contained to 4 acres by 12:30. The cause was a bird into a power line.   The second fire was reported just after 3, near Lilly Valley Circle and Winton roads in West Point.  Crews had forward progress stopped a short time after their arrival.   Then around 4:40 yesterday, a vegetation fire was reported at highway 26 and Paloma road. The fire quickly grew to 13 acres before ground crews with the aid of aircraft, were able to stop the forward progress around 5 pm.  The cause is under investigation.

And, Cal Fire reports the Maria fire, which broke out Monday afternoon, is now 70% contained at 117 acres.  Crews will continue to managing the burn until full containment is reached.
