CCSO Execute A Series Of Marijuana Eradication Operations

Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputies were busy yesterday executing a series of marijuana eradication operations at five locations between West Point, Railroad Flat and Mountain Ranch. The pot bust was a result of a three-month multi-agency operation that included the California Counterdrug Task Force, the California Highway Patrol, The California Department of Water Resources and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and resulted in the destruction of over 12,000 marijuana plants and seven arrests. The charges included suspicion of marijuana cultivation, the illegal diversion of water, resisting a peace officer, suspicion of criminal conspiracy and misdemeanor charges of cultivation. All those arrested yesterday, gave a home address of either out of the area or out of the state. At the end of the day a total of 12,617 plants with a street value of over 2.5 million dollars were destroyed, two weapons recovered and two structures were red tagged for code compliance violations as uninhabitable spaces.
