Amador CHP Reports 2 Successful Nights Of DUI Checkpoints

The Amador area CHP reports a successful two Friday’s of DUI check points. During the two night period on the 15th and again on the 22nd, officers talked with over 500 drivers the first night and over 600 this past Friday. Officer Craig Harmon reports one driver was arrested each night for driving under the influence. Harmon says the purpose of checkpoints is to deter driving after drinking by increasing the perceived risk of arrest. Harmon adds having one less impaired driver on our roadways is a success any day. The Amador area DUI checkpoints are made possible by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety.
