Amador High Teacher Arrested On Multiple Charges

An Amador High School teacher was arrested yesterday on a number of charges. According to a press release from the school district, yesterday a student approached the Amador High School administration with a concern about the behavior of teacher Marc Yonan. Administrators immediately went to the classroom and suspected that there could be alcohol involved. Students were removed from the classroom and the Sutter Creek Police Department was called to the campus to investigate. Yonan was then taken into custody on 2 felony charges, 1 of making criminal threats and the other child cruelty along with 3 misdemeanor charges including assault on school property, battery and disorderly conduct involving alcohol. Yonan was booked into the Amador County Jail on $500,000 bail. Amador administrators interviewed students about the incident and provided that information to the police department. The administrators also called each family to speak with them individually about the incident and left messages for those they couldn’t reach. The district will also offer counseling to students who need assistance.
