Two Illegal Marijuana Cultivation Sites Busted In Copperopolis

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served search warrants last Friday for illegal marijuana cultivation at two separate locations on Chuckwagon Drive in Copperopolis. At the first location, no subjects were arrested but 474 marijuana plants were eradicated. At the second location, four subjects were arrested and 127 marijuana plants were eradicated. Three of the arrestees stated they were from Minnesota and one was from Redding.  A handgun with the serial number filed off and a loaded high capacity ammunition magazine was located in the search. All four subjects were booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges of illegal marijuana cultivation, criminal conspiracy, possession of an altered firearm, and possession of a large capacity magazine with $85,000 bail. On Monday sheriff’s deputies accompanied Code Compliance Officers in serving an abatement warrant at a marijuana cultivation site on Vineyard Terrace Court in Murphys. 334 marijuana plants were eradicated at that location.
