Routine Traffic Stop Leads To Meth Bust In Calaveras 

A routine traffic stop resulted in a methamphetamine bust in Calaveras County. According to reports, an Angels Camp Officer was on patrol near Murphys Grade and Rolleri Bypass Roads when he pulled a vehicle over and discovered through a records check that the driver was on searchable probation out of Stanislaus County. The driver Martin Lorenzo Jr. of Modesto, told the officer he had a loaded gun in the vehicle that he was carrying for his protection. The officers search turned up a .40 caliber pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, but the officer also discovered 1 pound of crystal methamphetamine in a large plastic ziplock bag inside of a paper bag. Lorenzo was arrested on suspicion of charges relating to transporting a controlled substance for sale, possession of narcotics while armed and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.
