Calaveras Sheriff Rick Dibasilio Will Face At Least One Challenger

Calaveras County Sheriff Rick Dibasilio will face at least one challenger. Pat Garrahan has announced he too, plans to run for sheriff. Garrahan was defeated by incumbent Gary Kuntz in 2014. Dibasilio was appointed to the job in 2016, after Kuntz died in 2015. The position is set to expire at the end of next year. Dibasilio announced his intentions to run in June. To date, only Dibasilio and District 3 Supervisor Michael Oliveria are the only candidates in Calaveras County who have filed to fundraiser for the purpose of attempting to retain their respective offices. For Oliveria, his campaign will be for the purpose of seeking a second term. As for the potential recall activities against District 2 Supervisor Jack Garamendi, the Calaveras Election Office reports it’s still active and that current activities indicate there may potentially be two more getting underway to recall two Calaveras Unified School District Board members, Sherri Reusche, who represents District Area 1, and Board Clerk Dennis Dunnigan, who represents District Area 3.
