A Record Day Of Giving In Amador

It was a record day of giving in Amador County last Tuesday.  Speaking on KVGC’s noontime news on Friday, Amador Community Foundation Executive Director Kathleen Harmon reports last week’s “Giving Tuesday” event raised over $160,000.00 for local charities and non-profits.   Amador County residents showed their generosity as they embraced “Giving Tuesday,” part of a nation-wide movement to encourage charitable giving during a season mostly devoted to commercial shopping.   Funds were raised on a number of fronts, including online and in-person at a “Meet and Greet” event Tuesday evening.    Harmon also had thanks for Stan Lukowicz, The Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort, American Legion Post 108 and The Community Foundation for their donations totaling $35,000.00 to be used as matching funds.   Harmon says more than 300 individual donors contributed to this year’s total, which surpassed last years by over $50,000.00.
