Western Union Scammer

Western Union Scammer

If you lost money to a scammer who had you pay using Western Union between January 1, 2004 and January 19, 2017, you can now file a claim to get your money back. All this is the result of a suit brought by the Federal Trade Commission against Western Union.  For years, scammers have pretended to be family members in need of cash or law enforcement officers demanding payment.  Another scam involves sending money in order to receive a large cash prize. The scammers told people to send money through Western Union.  To qualify for a possible cash settlement you must submit your claim form by February 12, 2018. To get the claim form online go to, ftc.gov/wu. There you’ll find the instructions you need to file the claim. You can file the claim even if you do not have any paperwork to show that you sent money or you never reported the scam to anyone.  Don’t be a victim a second time by not asking for this refund. The key is that the money sent to the scammers MUST have been sent through Western Union. Again that website is ftc.gov/wu.
